Firsts

First:

• Attempt at Chinese 'What is your name?' : Laughed at :(
• Taxi ride: rip off. Oops. Well at least I got there!
• Impression of Beijing: Massive! Huge glass and steel buildings everywhere, yet with a bicycle loaded high with straw and goodness knows what else peddling along in its shadow.
• Largest building I've spotted so far: Chinese Censorship Headquarters. Yikes!
• Food on Chinese soil: M&M's and a coffee. Don't judge, I had to stay awake for another 4 hours until my room was ready!
• Bed: top bunk in a four bed room. Felt like sleeping on Marshmallows. Since the Camino, I don't think I've ever been more grateful for a bed
• Shower: divine. Got stuck in the figurative sense. Was one of these toilet/washrooms barely tall enough for me to stand in, but I LOVED IT
• Proper food: some  delicious concoction of spice, peanuts, veg and chicken. With rice, obviously. Ate the whole thing with chopsticks. Inordinately proud of myself.
